After concluding a two-match road swing, Texas A&M (9-7, 2-5 Big 12) returns home to play host to the Colorado Buffaloes (7-7, 3-6 Big 12) Sunday at 2 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum. A complete release in pdf format is available at www.AggieAthletics.com.
Fans who present a ticket stub from Saturday's A&M-Oklahoma State football game will be admitted to the match for $2. Aggie players will be available for autographs following the match.
This match features the two top outside hitters in the Big 12 in A&M's Laura Jones and Colorado's Allie Griffin. Jones, who entered the week leading the nation in kills per game, tops the Big 12 with 5.75 kills and 6.38 points per game. Griffin entered the week listed 14th in the nation in kill average and currently ranks second in the league with 5.11 kills and 5.57 points per game for the full season.
The 24th-ranked Aggies, who have faced one of the most difficult schedules in the nation, are riding a two-match winning streak after picking up 3-1 road victories at both Oklahoma and Iowa State. With the wins, A&M climbed to ninth in the conference standings.
The Buffaloes, who are one spot ahead of the Aggies in the league standings, are coming off their biggest win of the season after holding off No. 20 Kansas State, 3-2, Wednesday in Boulder.
All-Time Series: A&M owns a 14-5 record in the all-time series against Colorado, including an 8-1 mark in matches played at G. Rollie. The records, however, fail to show how tightly contested the matches have been between this two teams over recent years as five of the last eight meetings have been decided in five games. Last year, Texas A&M snapped a string of four-consecutive five-game matches against the Buffaloes by defeating Colorado, 3-1, in Boulder and 3-0 in College Station. It was the first time the Aggies had swept the season series against Colorado since 1999.
Colorado's most recent victory was in 2003 as the Buffs held off A&M, 30-25, 23-30, 31-29, 17-30, 15-12, in Boulder. CU's only victory at G. Rollie White Coliseum was a come-from-behind 23-30, 24-30, 30-28, 30-24, 15-10 win on Oct. 3, 2001.
Upcoming: The Aggies conclude a two-match home stand Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they play host to the Baylor Bears at G. Rollie. The match begins at 6:30 p.m. The Bears are 10-9 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12 entering a Saturday contest against No. 20 Kansas State in Waco.
