Tuesday kicks-offs the beginning of the Maroon and White Series which is a three-game, intrasquad, set (Tuesday-Thursday) that marks the end of the fall practice season for the Aggie softball team.
The roster will be split into three teams that will play each other on a rotational basis throughout the three days. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. each day and will be played at the Bryan High softball facilities.
"Our Maroon and White Series is a good way to end the fall team-practice season," commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. "By splitting the players up into three teams and pitting them against one another everyone gets a chance to showcase their abilities while working on their game in a competitive environment. All of our players have worked extremely hard throughout the fall and are looking forward to closing out our team practices with a spirited three days of competition."
The Aggies finished their fall game schedule over the weekend with a perfect 5-0 showing at the Spring Klein College Classic in Spring, Texas with wins over Alvin, UL-Lafayette, New Mexico St., Texas St. and North Texas.
The Aggies got complete-game victories from four starting pitchers and dominated the tournament offensively racking up nine home runs while run-ruling Alvin and Texas St.
"I saw a lot of really good things out of our players this weekend," said Evans. "This tournament is a great way to end the fall season because we get a chance to play a lot of games against different levels of competition allowing all of our players to get numerous opportunities both offensively and defensively. We played nearly flawless defense the whole weekend and I really liked our aggressiveness at the plate as well as our effort in the circle. We made great adjustments to the pitchers we faced and our pitchers did a great job keeping the opposing offensives off balance and throwing outs."
Please note the Maroon and White Series is being played at the Bryan High facilities while construction is being completed on the new playing surface at the Aggie Softball Complex. Also, fans attending games at the Bryan High softball field should park in the swimming pool parking lot or the outer edges of the main parking lot, outside the yellow lines.
