Sophomore forward, Ashlee Pistorius, was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is Pistorius' first Big 12 accolade of the 2005 season. She earned three Newcomer of the Week honors as a freshman in 2004.
The honor comes after a weekend on the road in which Pistorius registered seven points in Texas A&M's win at Oklahoma. She scored two goals, including the game-winner, and tied a school record with three assists. Against Oklahoma State, Pistorius fired five shots, two on goal, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
"It's great to see Ashlee's hard work rewarded in this manner," commented A&M head coach G Guerrieri. "She makes us dangerous in so many ways, not only does she score goals, but she possesses the ability to bring her teammates into the attack, as well."
The Illinois-native leads the Big 12 with 28 points and is third in both goals (10) and assists (8).
