Texas A&M freshman Bronson Burgoon of The Woodlands has been named First-Team All-America for 2005 by the American Junior Golf Association.
Burgoon is one of 10 players to make the first team and is the only Texan. He won two AJGA tournaments last summer and also qualified for the U.S. Amateur. He lost a playoff for the final qualifying spot for the 2005 U.S. Open.
Burgoon won the 2005 Texas Class 5A state championship in Austin with a record score of 61-69=130. The opening-round 61 also set a state record. He captured the state championship as a sophomore in 2003 and was a third-team AJGA All-American in 2004.
This marks the second straight year in which an A&M player has earned first-team AJGA All-America honors. Last year, Robert Gates, Jr., made the team.
