Josh Stinson lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Kyle Colligan on Saturday afternoon and earn the Maroon team the win, 6-5, at Olsen Field.

Colligan started the inning with a single, stole second and moved to third on a sharp single by Ben Maitland.

The Maroon team won the last two games of the three-game series to claim the 2005 Maroon and White Series Championship.

The Maroons struck first in the bottom of the second to take the early lead, 1-0. Keith Stein was hit by a pitch and stole second before being moved to third by a sacrifice bunt by Jose Salazar. Colligan then delivered a single to left to plate Stein.

The Maroon team scored twice more in the bottom of the third to increase its lead to 3-0. Blake Stouffer doubled down the line in left with one out and scored on Ryan Hill?â„¢s single through the left side. Hill was able to advance to second on the throw to the plate and scored when Craig Stinson singled up the middle.

Single runs in the fifth and the sixth gave the Maroons a 5-0 lead. Lee Harughty scored when Hill reached on an error in the fifth and Colligan drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Maroon starter Scooter Hicks cruised through his six innings of work. He allowed just three hits and fanned two. At one point, Hicks retired 12 straight hitters.

The White team fought back with four runs in the top of the seventh to cut the Maroon lead to one run. Jake Vasquez and John Infante each delivered two-RBI singles with two outs in the inning.

A towering home run over the wall in right by Adam Hale in the top of the eighth tied the game at five.

White starter Luke Anders allowed four runs ?- three earned ?- in five innings of work.

Anthony Vasquez earned the win, retiring all three men he faced in the ninth.

Ben Brockman pitched 3.1 solid innings in relief, but was tagged with the loss.
