Sophomore, forward Ashlee Pistorius was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and freshman, midfielder Laura Grace Robinson was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This is Pistorius?â„¢ fifth Big 12 accolade of her career and Robinson?â„¢s first.
The honors come after bringing home the Big 12 Regular Season Championship with a 4-0 win over Baylor on Friday night at the Aggie Soccer Stadium. Pistorius earned eight points in the match while recording her second career hat-trick, but did not stop there as she tied the Aggie school-record for most goals in a single game (4). Pistorius has scored 15 goals this season which ties with teammate Melissa Garey for the league lead. Pistorius also leads the Big 12 with 40 points and her six game-winning goals are tied for the lead with Missouri?â„¢s Amber Swinehart.
?Ashlee broke open a competitive game on Friday night,? said A&M head coach G Guerrieri. ?She is an exceptional player and a huge threat in front of the goal. Ashlee?â„¢s four goals against Baylor were an amazing feat on any level of play, but with her talent, something we?â„¢ve sort of come to expect.?
Robinson came in off the bench to play 40 minutes in A&M?â„¢s win over Baylor. She took three shots, two on goal and helped the Aggies maintain possession of the ball in the midfield. The Houston native has played in all 18 of the Aggies?â„¢ matches this season, recording two goals with three assists and has taken 28 shots.
