After opening the season with consecutive home victories, Texas A&M be will be the visitors at its own arena when it plays the Tulane Green Wave in Saturday's "Hurricane Katrina Relief Game" at 7 p.m. at Reed Arena.
The game is being played as a Tulane home game with all proceeds going to the Tulane Athletic Department, which was displaced after Hurricana Katrina. Tickets are available at the door and at www.12thmanfoundation.com.
The Aggies are 2-0 and are coming off an 84-53 win against Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. The Green Wave, which is playing four home games at Reed Arena, opened their season with a 77-66 win against New Orleans on Tuesday.
Junior Acie Law leads the Aggies with an average of 24.0 points per game, including a career-high 30 on Tuesday against MVSU. Junior Marlon Pompey and senior Eddie Smith are each adding 12.0 points, while sophomore Joseph Jones is scoring 11.0.
Members of Conference USA, Tulane is in its first season under Coach Dave Dickerson, a former assistant at Maryland. The Green Wave returns four starters from last year's team that went 11-17.
Tulane is led by senior center Quincy Davis, who averaged 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds last year. Junior Chris Moore led the Green Wave with 16 points in the win against UNO.
A&M is 19-3 at home since the arrival of Coach Billy Gillispie prior to last season. The Aggies have won 15 straight regular-season non-conference games, including 14 straight at home.
Tulane leads the series, 7-6, and won the last meeting by a score of 64-60 in overtime in 1999-00 in New Orleans. A&M leads 4-0 in games played in College Station, including a 69-63 victory in 1998-99 in Reed Arena's inaugural season.
