
Eight Aggies Garner All-Conference Honors From Coaches

The Texas A&M football team put eight players on the 2005 SBC All-Big 12 Conference squad, which was released by the conference office on Tuesday.
The team, which features first- and second-teams plus honorable mention, was selected by votes of the Big 12?™s head coaches.
Senior placekicker Todd Pegram and junior linebacker Justin Warren were named to the squad?™s second-team after producing solid seasons.
Pegram, from Plano, Texas, connected on 15-of-19 field goals in 2005, including a career-best 45-yarder. He led the team and ranked fourth in the conference with 86 points. Pegram set a school record for career field goal percentage with a 74.7 percentage on 56-of-75 three-point tries. He also finished as A&M?™s No. 2 career scorer with 309 points and his 56 field goals tied for No. 2 in school history.
Warren, from Tyler, Texas, ranked No. 2 in the conference in tackles behind Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Nick Reid of Kansas. Warren averaged 9.5 tackles per game in 2005, just .14 tackles per game behind Reid. Warren also produced six tackles for losses and recovered a pair of fumbles. He had four double-digit tackle games in 2005, including a career-best 14 against Oklahoma State.
Also receiving recognition were senior Jaxson Appel (Friendswood, Texas), freshman Martellus Bennett (Alief, Texas), senior Jason Carter (Caldwell, Texas), sophomore Kirk Elder (Klein, Texas), senior Johnny Jolly (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Cody Wallace (Cuero, Texas), who received honorable mention honors.
