After an impressive 2005 season run, Texas A&M head soccer coach, G Guerrieri has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America?â„¢s Coach of the Year for the Central Region.

Guerrieri has been at the helm of Texas A&M soccer for 13 seasons and has led the Aggies to four Big 12 Championships (1997, 2002, 2004, 2005) as well as bringing home the conference?â„¢s tournament title four times (1997, 2001, 2004, 2005). His teams have made 11 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, seven trips to the Sweet 16 and two to the Elite Eight.

Overall, at Texas A&M, Guerrieri has posted a 220-64-11 and a 76-19-6 mark in Big 12 competition. Since arriving in Aggieland, he has been named Big 12 Conference Co-Coach of the Year twice (1997, 2002) and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year (1997).

In addition, Guerrieri has built the Aggie Soccer Stadium into one of the toughest venues in the country for opposing teams, as this season?â„¢s crowds helped to once again set the nation?â„¢s attendance record.

Before taking over as head coach of the Aggies, Guerrieri was honored as the NAIA Regional Women?â„¢s Coach of the Year (1989), NJCAA Regional Men?â„¢s Coach of the Year (1991, 1992) and NJCAA Regional Women?â„¢s Coach of the Year (1992).

Guerrieri received his B.S. in education from Tulsa in 1985 where he was a goalkeeper and team captain for the Golden Hurricane. He and his wife, the former Terri Markham (A&M ?â„¢87), have three children Emily Marie (8), Alan Michael (5) and Conner Everett (1).

The regional coaches will be joined by the coaches whose teams advanced to the semifinal round in their respective postseason tournaments to make up the pool of candidates for the NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year award. Those recipients will be announced at the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, held in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.
