The Texas A&M men's golf team will play in four fall tournaments at least seven spring tournaments in 2005-06, Aggies coach J.T. Higgins said Tuesday.
New fall events on the schedule are the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla., and the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The only new spring event on the agenda is the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas.
A&M will play three tournaments in Texas, all played consecutively prior to the Big 12 Championships April 24-25 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. The prestigious Hall of Fame Invitational will be March 17-19 in Houston, followed by the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin and A&M's own Aggie Invitational April 15-16 at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan.
"This is a tremendous schedule, probably the best we've played since I came here four years ago," Higgins said. "We will be facing the best teams in the country every time we tee it up and playing on some of the best golf courses in America. It will be a great challenge to our team. We have never backed away from strong competition and our strength of schedule has been a key factor in our success in the postseason the last couple of years. It is important to have the confidence of knowing you can compete with the best before you face off for championships and this schedule will certainly provide us with those opportunities."
