Thanks for coming out!!! Last Friday night the crowd that showed to watch us take on East Carolina was awesome. I never heard a final number, but I know there were A LOT of you, and it was so much fun to get to play again at home in front of so many lovers of the game. A 3-0 victory proved to be a solid win. We had a bunch of scoring opportunities, and unfortunately some of them just wouldn't go our way, but I think we did a great job of attacking the goal. We were tough on the back line and showed limited opportunities for attack to our opponents. Of course, there is always plenty of room for improvement, but overall I think we all were pleased with the performance and happy with the outcome.
I was bummed to only have one home game for the weekend, but I must say it was nice to have a weekend off. After a few days of relaxing and catching up on some school work, we are all fresh and ready to go. Now it is time to face two of the most dominant soccer programs in the nation. This week we travel to Tennessee for a tournament against the University of Washington and 16th ranked Stanford University. Both teams are extremely well coached. They play a quick, aggressive style of play and will be true tests to how far we have come this season. I am so excited for the matches and anxious to see some competitors that are willing to step out of their own box and play. The past few weeks we've been seeing a lot of defensive-minded teams. They looked to put numbers in the box defensively, trying to hold off scoring chances for us and hoping to get in on a fast break down the field. But I can guarantee that this weekend we will face some teams that want to play - and want to play hard. They are going to come at us with speed and determination and I cannot wait; bring it on! :
I sure wish we were playing these games at home. I'd love to get to show UW and Stanford what a soccer crowd should look like, but I know that you all will be there in spirit.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful week and enjoys the slightly cooled off September weather. Thanks again for your unending support and I am looking forward to getting back home to play again in Aggieland. We all are counting down the days until September 30th...
Talk to you soon, gig 'em Ags!
