Texas A&M and first-year head coach Rob Childress will begin the 2006 season with a three-game series against Northwestern State (La.) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Olsen Field.
The Aggies finished the 2005 season with an overall record of 30-25-1.

Childress will be searching for his first win as a Division I head coach after spending eight seasons as the pitching coach at Nebraska, where he helped the Huskers reach the College World Series three times.
The Aggies are 1-0-0 all-time versus the Demons, winning their only meeting, 12-9, in 1989 at the Dixie Classic in Shreveport, La.
The Demons will also be playing their first three games of the year this weekend, after finishing the year with a record of 41-20 and advancing to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection. NSU was selected by the coaches of the Southland Conference to repeat as the league's champion. In fact, the Demons have won nine of the last 15 SLC Championships.
TICKETS
Tickets to all Texas A&M home games can be purchased by calling the Texas A&M Athletic Ticket Office at (979) 845-2311 or (888) 99-AGGIE. Fans may also purchase tickets online at 12thmanfoundation.com. The gates at Olsen Field open 90 minutes prior to first pitch for non-conference games and two hours prior to first pitch for conference games.
RADIO
All Texas A&M baseball games will be broadcast live on WTAW AM-1620. Dave South, The Voice of the Aggies, will call the action and will be assisted throughout the season by Tom Turbiville, Chuck Glenewinkel and Gabe Bock. The pregame show will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each game.

- GAME 1: Kyle Nicholson - Junior - RHP
Junior right-hander Kyle Nicholson will get the starting nod on opening day of the 2006 season for the Aggies. Nicholson, a home-grown product from College Station, appeared in 21 games in 2005, but did not register a start. He finished the year with a 3-0 record and an ERA of 3.35 in 40.1 innings.
- GAME 2: Kyle Thebeau - Freshman - RHP
True freshman flame-thrower Kyle Thebeau's first collegiate action will be as the starting pitcher in Saturday's game against NSU. Thebeau, a former member of the USA Baseball Youth national Team, struck out 76 hitters in 48 innings of work as a senior at Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.
- GAME 3: Austin Creps - Junior - RHP
Veteran right-hander Austin Creps will get the ball to start Sunday's game against Northwestern State. Creps, a junior from Spring, Texas, started seven games in 2005 and appeared in 11. He finished the year with a 2-1 record while recording an ERA of 4.28 in 40.0 innings of work.

SERIES INFORMATION
The Aggies are 1-0-0 all-time versus the Demons, winning their only meeting, 12-9, in 1989 at the Dixie Classic in Shreveport, La. The win was the 25th-straight for the Aggies, who went on to win a school-record 26 consecutive games to start the 1989 season.
In the game, Texas A&M banged out 12 hits, including a 3-for-3 day for shortstop Chuck Knoblauch. Knoblauch also drove in three runs with a pair of doubles. The aggies jumped out to a 12-3 lead after six-complete innings, before allowing five runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
TEXAS A&M IN SEASON OPENERS
Since 1951, Texas A&M is 42-13 on opening day and the Aggies have won their last five home openers. The last loss in a home opener was to Texas-San Antonio in 2000.
