COLLEGE STATION (AP/1-28-06)- Joseph Jones scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds to help Texas A&M fight off a scrappy Baylor team for a 72-70 win on Jan. 28. A&M struggled to stay on top after leading by as many as 12 points in the second half. The Bears were 16-of-30 from 3-point range for 53 percent, with Aaron Bruce making 6-of-11.

WACO, Texas (AP/3-5-05)- Bobby Leach scored a career-high 25 points to lead Texas A&M to an 84-76 win over Baylor on March 5, 2005. Antoine Wright had 16 points and Acie Law 15 as the Aggies won their first game in six visits to Ferrell Center. Leach's three-pointer put A&M ahead 53-42 with just over 13 minutes remaining. The Aggies scored only one field goal in the game's final four minutes but connected on 15-of-18 free throws to clinch the win. Baylor never got closer than nine points on several occasions, the last coming at 73-64 with 2:08 left to play. Aaron Bruce had 28 points, while Tommy Swanson added 17 points for the Bears. A&M led 38-29 at the half with Wright and Leach pacing the way with 10 points each.

COLLEGE STATION (AP/2-11-06)- Joseph Jones sank a jumper with 1.1 seconds left Saturday to lift Texas A&M to a 46-44 win over Oklahoma State last Saturday at Reed Arena. Jones scored 15 and grabbed eight rebounds for the Aggies, who shot 17 of 42. A&M led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but made only two field goals in the final 13 minutes to allow the Cowboys to come back. Mario Boggan's layup with 2:20 left tied the game at 44-44. The Cowboys had a chance to take only their second lead of the game with 20 seconds to go, but Jamaal Brown missed a layup. A&M point guard Acie Law then moved the ball up the court and set up Jones for his game-winning shot. JamesOn Curry scored 13 to lead Oklahoma State.


Who's Hot?


  • Junior Acie Law has scored in double figures in all but two games. Law ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring in league play with 18.5 per game and is eighth overall (16.3). He is the only Big 12 player to average at least 18 points and 4 assists in league play while making better than 45 percent from the field.
  • Plagued by early foul trouble in some games, sophomore Joseph Jones is averaging 20.2 points and 8.1 rebounds in games in which he plays at least 25 minutes. He's the only Big 12 player to rank in the league's top 10 in both scoring and rebounding while averaging fewer than 30 minutes.
  • Senior Chris Walker scored 11 points, a career-high for a Big 12 game, against Colorado, making 3-of-5 three-pointers. Walker is making 45.8 percent of his three-pointers (11-of-24) in conference play.

  • In three of A&M's six Big 12 losses (Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Kansas State), the Aggies missed potential game-winning shots in the final five seconds. Seven of A&M's 11 league games have been decided by four points or less or in overtime. The Aggies are 4-3 in those games.
