The Aggies have started the season 7-0 for the sixth time since the 1990 season. The last time was 2004 when the Aggies raced to a 10-0 start. In 1990, 1994 and 1998, A&M went 9-0 to start the year and in 1993, A&M won 14 straight to start the season.
A&M pitched its way to a sweep of Northern Colorado this past weekend. The Aggie pitching staff is currently riding a 22-inning scoreless streak after spinning two-straight shutouts to close the UNC series.
The Mavericks moved to 3-3 after splitting two games over the weekend in the weather-shortened UTA Invitational. The Mavs dropped their opener to Kansas State, 13-3, before defeating Oral Roberts, 7-5.
Sophomore righty Chance Corgan will toe the rubber to start the game against Texas-Arlington. Corgan has two mound appearances this season, including a start last Tuesday against Sam Houston. He is 1-0 with an ERA of 2.57 and has nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.
UTA will counter with junior right-hander Chris Taylor. Taylor does not have a decision but has tallied two saves. In three appearances, he has an ERA of 2.89 and has struck out 12 hitters in 9.1 innings of work.
The Aggies hold an all-time advantage of 18-4-0 against the Mavericks, but Texas A&M has lost its last two meetings between the two schools. Last year, A&M dropped a 6-4 decision to UTA and in 2004 the Mavs beat the Aggies, 5-4.
