Texas A&M carded a 13-under-par 275 on Thursday and climbed into seventh place after two rounds of the John Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Club. The final round is Friday.
The No. 18-ranked Aggies have a 21-under-total of 555, eight strokes behind tournament leader BYU (547) in the 19-team event.
A&M freshman Bronson Burgoon is tied for 18th in the individual standings at 66-72=138 and trails leader Jay Moseley of Auburn (66-66=132) by six strokes.
All five A&M players are 3-under-par or better. Sophomore Robert Gates (70-70=140) and senior Andrew Parr (71-69=140) are tied for 31st, and senior Jerad Harklau (73-68=141) and sophomore Trey Todd (73-68=141) are tied for 38th.
"We had a great team effort today," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We played really good golf and got ourselves in position to make a run in the final round. To have all five players under par is fantastic."
