Texas A&M carded a 2-under-par 286 on Friday and finished ninth at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Club.

The No. 18-ranked Aggies had a 54-hole total of 23-under-total of 841, tying the school record set at the 2004 Barona Collegiate Cup. But the Aggies finished 18 strokes behind SMU, which won the 19-team event with a 41-under 823.

BYU placed second at 824, followed by New Mexico (830), San Diego State (831), Colorado State (832), Arizona (833), Auburn (834), Nevada (838), A&M (280-275-286=841), Denver (842), UNLV (844), Long Beach State (845), UTEP (849), California (856), San Diego (860), San Jose State (862), Hawaii (863), UC Santa Barbara (875) and Utah (875).

SMU's Brandon DeStefano (68-68-66=202) won the individual title over Auburn's Jay Moseley (66-66-70=202) on the second playoff hole. Both golfers finished at -14.

A&M was led by seniors Jerad Harklau (73-68-68=209) and Andrew Parr (71-69-69=209), who tied for 21st. Sophomore Robert Gates (70-70-73=213) tied for 42nd, freshman Bronson Burgoon (66-72-77=215) tied for 60th and sophomore Trey Todd (73-68-76=217) tied for 69th.

The Aggies are back in action at the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate March 17-19 in Las Vegas, Nev.
