The No. 8 Texas A&M softball team (10-5) fell to No. 3 UCLA (12-1) 5-0 in the Saturday?â„¢s nightcap of the Palm Springs Classic in Cathedral City.

?I like the way our kids came out tonight,? commented A&M coach Jo Evans. ?I thought we played hard, we played with some enthusiasm, which we?â„¢ve been looking for. Our downfall this whole tournament has been not making that one play and getting stuck with a big inning.?

The Bruins?â„¢ Lisa Dodd hit solo homeruns in the bottom of the third and fifth to put UCLA on top 2-0.

UCLA scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on two hits, two fielder?â„¢s choice and one Aggie error, extending their lead 5-0.

Lisa Gorzycki got the nod for the Aggies in game two. Gorzycki went six innings giving up five runs, two earned on eight hits, striking out five in her first career start at A&M.

?I thought Lisa was outstanding,? Evans said. ?That?â„¢s why I put her out there. You can see our team rally around her when she?â„¢s in the circle. She?â„¢s a good leader. I thought she had good poise on the mound, she threw really well.?

Rocky Spencer was named State Farm Player of the Day for her walk-off homerun that lifted the Aggies past UNLV, 5-3, earlier in the afternoon.

A&M will conclude play in the Palm Springs Classic with a game against Fullerton on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
