The Texas A&M football team drilled for two hours in shorts and helmets on Saturday at the grass practice fields.

The highlight of the workout was a visit from former President George Bush and his wife, Barbara. The Bush?â„¢s watched the Aggies?â„¢ practice for several minutes before Pres. Bush addressed the team midway through the workout.

Earlier in the day, 17 2005 seniors tried to impress the pro scouts at Texas A&M?â„¢s annual Pro Day. Several Aggies appeared to help their causes.

Four-year starter Jaxson Appel ran a quick 4.55 in the 40-yard dash, a 4.21 in the 5-10-5 shuttle and 7.19 in the ?L? drill. Appel also posted a 9-foot, 10.5-inch standing broad jump.

Wide receiver Jason Carter turned in a time of 4.00 in the 5-10-5 and a 7.12 in the ?L? drill. He also had posted 17 bench press repetitions of 225 pounds and a 4.64 clocking in the 40.

Offensive lineman Aldo De La Garza wowed observers with an impressive 42 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press.
