Kavaliauskas, Kirk Make Big 12 Specialty Teams

Texas A&M sophomore Dominique Kirk has been named to the Big 12 All-Underrated Team and junior Antanas Kavaliauskas was been tabbed for the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team by a panel of sportswriters who regularly cover the league.

The panel also selected All-Freshman, All-Defense, All-Reserve and All-Improved teams.

The coaches' All-Big 12 teams and honors are scheduled to be released by the Big 12 Conference office on Monday.

Kirk has started in all 58 games in his A&M career and has emerged as one of the Big 12's top defensive players. This season, he has averaged 6.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals. Kirk has made 38.9 percent from three-point range and leads the team with 44 three-point field goals.

A junior college transfer, Kavaliauskas has played in 26 games, averaging 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds. He also is making a team-best 59.3 percent from the field. A&M is 11-0 when Kavaliauskas scored at least seven points and he has scored in double figures in three of the last five games.
