"We are looking forward to getting back on the field," commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. "We've had a great week of practice and our team is ready to take on Sam Houston. We played well against Sam Houston last week in Huntsville and I expect us to pick-up where we left off."

The Aggies are coming off a weekend tournament at home where they went 3-2, splitting two-game sets against BYU and College of Charleston and beating Texas Southern in a one-game face-off.

Sam Houston participated in the Arizona Classic this past weekend in Tucson, placing fourth with wins over South Florida and Long Beach State.

The leading batter for the Bearkats is Tanya Hooser (.385) who hit .500 in the Arizona Classic, going 9 for 18 which included five doubles. On the season, Hooser has 20 hits in 52 at bats scoring 13 runs and driving in 10 RBI.

Megan Gibson is hitting .333 for the Aggies, with eight homeruns and 16 RBI. Gibson recorded a 1.091 slugging percentage last week and is slugging .815 on the season. She is currently tied for third in the conference in homeruns and is fourth in walks with 14 in 22 games.

A&M leads the all-time series against Sam Houston, 71-13. The two teams met earlier this season at the newly constructed Bearkat Softball Complex in Huntsville. The Aggies won the match-up 2-0 on a two RBI day for Gibson, the first a sacrifice fly in top of the first, scoring Sharonda McDonald and the second a solo homerun in the top of the third.
