The Texas A&M volleyball team begins its spring exhibition schedule Saturday as the Aggies participate in the SFA Spring Tournament in Nacogdoches, Texas.
A&M will play three matches during the one-day tournament, with the first being against Stephen F. Austin at 12:30 p.m. The Aggies face Louisiana Tech at 1:45 p.m. and conclude the tournament against Texas-Arlington at 3 p.m.
All matches will be played at Shelton Gym on the SFA campus. Matches will be two games to 30 points.
This is the first of four tournaments the Aggies are slated to participate in during the spring. A&M hosts a tournament on April 1 at G. Rollie White Coliseum and then travels to Houston for a tournament at Rice on April 8. The Aggies conclude their spring schedule in Missouri on April 22 at a tournament hosted by Saint Louis University.
Texas A&M coach Laurie Corbelli returns only one full-time starter ?- middle blocker senior-to-be Christi Hahn ?- from the fall season in which the Aggies went 16-14 and advanced to the NCAA Championships for a 13th consecutive year. Corbelli also returns six other letterwinners, including sophomores Kelsey Bryant (right-side hitter) and Lindsey Yon (left-side hitter), who were regulars in the lineup at the end of the season, as well as junior defensive specialist Jen Moore, who appeared in every match.
In addition, freshman outside hitter Mary Batis will be making her collegiate debut. The prep All-American from San Antonio Clark High School graduated early and enrolled at A&M for the spring semester.
