"Texas State is a very tough team," commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. "They have a very good pitcher in Katie Trahan and they hit the ball well. Coach Woodard does a great job and it will be a good test for us going into our weekend on the road with Texas Tech. Our team has played good defense and pitched well and it's important that we get more consistent at the plate. "

The Aggies are coming off a weekend series sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks. A&M won both games in a dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh. Jami Lobpries hit a two-run shot in Saturday's game to lift the Ags to a 2-1 victory. Lobpries, again, scored the winning run in game two, taking home on a passed ball for the 3-2 win.

Texas State improved to 8-1 in the Southland Conference with a 9-6 come-from-behind win over McNeese State Sunday in San Marcos.

Megan Gibson continues to generate for A&M at the plate. She leads the team in batting average at .304 with nine homeruns and 22 RBI on the season. She also leads the team in slugging percentage (.696) and walks (22). Gibson (11-3) has logged 85 innings of work in the circle. She has a 2.39 ERA with 58 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .221 batting average.

Kristin Gunter is the Bobcats' top producer, hitting .372 with six homeruns and 21 RBI in 30 games played. On the mound, Trahan (13-5) has a 1.23 ERA in 125.1 innings of work. She's struckout 153, only walking 37.

The two programs have faced-off 60 times, with A&M winning 51 of the contests.
