Christi Hahn, a middle blocker on the Texas A&M volleyball team, has been recognized as an All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently announced.

This marks the second consecutive year Hahn has received the award, which recognizes student-athletes?â„¢ dedication to strength training and conditioning to improve overall athletic performance. The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award was presented to 242 collegiate athletes from 160 schools for the 2004-05 academic year.

?Christi once again dominated last year?â„¢s off-season training program,? A&M strength and conditioning coach Raychelle Ellsworth said. ?She is a very well rounded athlete who continues to get better and better and also continues to make those around her better.?

Hahn, from Leander, Texas, played in every match and in 115 of 117 games as a junior this past season while helping lead A&M to a 16-14 record and its 13th consecutive NCAA tournament berth. She was second on the team with a .325 hitting percentage, which ranks 10th in the A&M season records. Hahn also ranked second on the squad in kills (2.87) and points (3.62) per game and third in blocks (.084) for the full season.

Hahn posted double figures in kills 19 matches, including each of the seven final matches of the season. During that final seven-match stretch, Hahn earned both Big 12 Conference and AVCA national player of the week honors for the first time in her career after setting career highs with 21 kills and a .526 hitting percentage in a victory against Kansas on Nov. 16 and bettering her personal mark with 23 kills while hitting at a .514 clip in the Aggies?â„¢ ensuing win at No. 24 Colorado.

Hahn tied an A&M Big 12 record with four solo blocks in a five-game match against Colorado earlier in the season and also tied the school Big 12 record with 11 total blocks against the Buffaloes.

In addition to her standout performances on the court and in the weight room, Hahn also excels in the classroom where she sports a 4.0 grade-point average. The kinesiology/exercise science major was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in December.
