Members of the Texas A&M volleyball team and coaching staff will be assisting with the Area 6 Special Olympics Texas Spring Games to be held Saturday at the A&M Consolidated High School track stadium.
?The volleyball players and staff are excited to volunteer our time and open our hearts to these wonderful Special Olympics athletes,? A&M coach Laurie Corbelli said. ?It is rare that we are not traveling or training on a Saturday, so when the opportunity came about to share in this event, it was an easy decision.
?The players are thrilled to get to support and encourage these children and adults as they compete, demonstrate courage, develop physical fitness, and experience joy through this great competition. We hope that we can continue to play a part in this type of event in our community.?
The Aggies will serve as awards presenters and greeters and assist with other activities from 9-11:30 a.m.
A&M concludes its spring exhibition schedule Saturday, April 22 at the Saint Louis University Spring Tournament in St. Louis, Mo.
