The Aggies will look to improve on their overall record of 19-16 after a tough series loss to 15th-ranked Oklahoma this past weekend. A&M is 3-9 in Big 12 play.
The Bobcats are currently third in the Southland Conference race with a 12-6 record. Overall, Texas State is 16-20.
Texas State defeated A&M, 6-4, earlier this season at The Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Both teams tallied eight hits, but the Aggies stranded 10 runners.
A&M holds the all-time series advantage, 33-10. Including the game earlier this season, the Aggies have won eight of the last 10 contests played between the two schools.
Junior right-hander Kyle Nicholson will get the starting nod for the Aggies on the mound. Nicholson has appeared in 10 games and has seven starts this season. In 40 innings of mound work, he has fanned 29 opposing hitters and walked only nine. He enters the game with a 4.50 ERA and a record of 3-3.
Texas State will counter with junior lefty David Wood. Wood will be making his first start of the season and has appeared in seven games out of the bullpen. He has nine strikeouts, allowed only seven hits in nine innings and is 1-0 with an ERA of 1.00.
