"It should be another great match-up with Baylor," commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. "Both teams are hitting the ball well and getting good pitching. We will have to be able to shut down their potent offense. I am hoping we can get a great crowd and use their energy and enthusiasm to give us a definite home field advantage. I expect it to be a great game between two very good ball clubs."
The Aggies (30-12, 9-3) are back in action at home after having played the last four conference games on the road. A&M won both games at Oklahoma State on Wednesday before splitting a doubleheader with Iowa State on Saturday. The Aggies dropped the first game to ISU, 14-6, before coming back in game two for a 7-0 shutout, fueled by Amanda Scarborough's 3-for-3, four RBI game at the plate.
The Lady Bears (28-17, 7-5) were also on the road this weekend as they faced the 16th-ranked Nebraska Huskers in Lincoln, Neb. The series was split with Baylor winning Saturday's game 7-2. The Huskers won Sunday's game 7-4 after scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Third baseman, Jamie Hinshaw's eight-game hitting streak has her leading the Aggie batters with a .333 average. She has six doubles, two triples, five home runs and 24 RBI on the season. Hinshaw is currently leading the Big 12 with the most hits in conference play.
In the circle, Megan Gibson (14-4) has a 2.66 ERA. Gibson has logged 118.1 innings of work. She's struck out 84 batters this season while allowing 31 free passes.
For Baylor, Chelsi Lake is hitting .386 with 13 doubles and 16 home runs and 47 RBI. On the mound for the Lady Bears, Lisa Ferguson (15-11) has a 1.54 ERA in 155 innings of work.
A&M and Baylor opened this season's Big 12 action on March 22 in Waco. The Aggies came away with an extra-inning, 4-3, victory, giving A&M a 49-14-1 advantage in the all-time series.
