PROBABLE TEXAS A&M STARTING ROTATION

  • GAME 1: Jason Meyer - Junior - LHP
Jason Meyer will be making his fifth start of the season this weekend. Last weekend against Nebraska, Meyer lasted just 3 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on six hits. Meyer was named Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week after his Friday-night start against Oklahoma. He carried a no-hitter into the ninth, and allowed only one run on one hit in a complete game win. He struck out six and walked three. His first start came in a Tuesday game against Lamar. He allowed one run on six hits in six-complete innings on the mound. Meyer had his second straight good outing against Oklahoma State in the second game of the three-game series. Meyer logged 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out five and walking two. For the year, Meyer has appeared in 18 games, 14 out of the bullpen. In 43 innings on the mound, he has allowed 53 hits and has 35 strikeouts against only 12 walks. He also has a save this season. Meyer, a 2004 freshman all-American, has plenty of experience as a starter, starting 14 games in 2005 and 12 in 2004. He is currently tied for seventh all-time in the A&M record books with 59 appearances, tied for 10th with 195 strikeouts and is 15th all-time with 226 innings pitched.

  • GAME 2: Austin Creps - Junior - RHP
Austin Creps, a junior right-hander and Texas Collegiate League Pitcher of the Year, will start on Saturday for the fifth time this season. Creps was the Sunday starter the first five weeks of the season and started the Friday game against Oklahoma State. He was solid last week against Nebraska, allowing four runs on nine hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. Creps was dominant in his outing against Oklahoma, throwing 10 shutout innings and allowing just five hits. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and walked two but did not figure in the decision as the Aggies lost in 11 innings, 1-0. The Friday start proved to be Creps' worst outing of the season as he allowed seven runs on 10 hits in four-complete innings of work. Creps was the tough-luck loser in a game against Missouri State, allowing three runs in five innings of work in the 3-2 loss. He came back strong with a 7 1/3 inning performance against Florida where he allowed three hits, struck out five and did not walk a man. He also shouldered the loss against UTSA after throwing 7 2/3 innings and not allowing an earned run. Creps did not earn a decision against Missouri, as he left with a 4-1 lead and the Aggies lost 6-5 in extra innings. He threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings against Texas Tech, scattering five hits and striking out five. In his nine starts, the Aggie offense has scored 28 runs for an average of 3.11 runs per game. Creps has pitched a total of 69 innings in his previous 10 starts and has allowed just 61 hits on the season. He owns a record of 3-3, an ERA of 1.83 and is averaging 6.90 innings per start. He has allowed 14 earned runs this season - six in one inning against Oklahoma State. If you subtract the six-run inning, Creps has an ERA of 1.06 in his other 68 innings pitched.
