A pair of Aggie football standouts had their names called in the 2006 National Football League Draft over the weekend, which marked the 32nd straight year that Texas A&M has had at least one player drafted by the NFL.
Defensive tackle Johnny Jolly, a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2005, was taken in the sixth round (183rd overall) by the Green Bay Packers.
Also getting his shot in the NFL was the Aggies?â„¢ all-time total offense and passing yards leader Reggie McNeal, who was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round (193rd overall). McNeal was the first Aggie quarterback drafted since 1992 when the Houston Oilers grabbed Bucky Richardson in the eighth round.
