The Texas A&M Athletic Department will host its second-annual Military Appreciation night this Saturday, May 6, at Olsen Field. The festivities will begin with a pregame ceremony and continue throughout the evening in conjunction with the Texas A&M versus Dallas Baptist baseball game. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
?We are honored to have the opportunity to recognize the veterans of our area and the troops currently serving our country,? A&M head coach Rob Childress said. ?It should be an exciting night of celebrating our freedom and the men and women who protect it.?
All veterans are invited to be on the field for a special pregame ceremony, which will include a video tribute, the National Anthem, and a first pitch ceremony featuring wounded veterans.
All veterans interested in participation should report to the right-field gate at 6:15 p.m.
Additionally, all veterans will receive two free tickets to the game. Tickets may be picked up at the main ticket booth of Olsen Field beginning at 5:30 p.m. Additional tickets will be available for $6.
All fans who enter the gates will receive a miniature American flag and tickets for Saturday?â„¢s game can be used for an admittance discount to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The Singing Cadets will perform ?God Bless America? during the seventh-inning stretch and a six-foot replica of the George Bush 4141 Presidential train engine will be on hand.
Special commemorative t-shirts with the slogan ?Aggie Baseball supports our troops? have been designed for the game and can be purchased at MSC Bookstore, the Olsen Field merchandise trailer, or by logging onto AggieLocker.com. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial.
The Aggies and DBU will open the series with a single game on Friday night at 7 p.m. Live audio, video and stats of both games will be available on aggieathletics.com.
