Sophomores Megan Gibson and Jami Lobpries were named to the 2006 Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, league officials announced on Saturday.
For the second time in as many years, Gibson earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. She hit .667 in three games in the championship. Gibson was 4-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and five walks. In the circle, Gibson recorded a complete game shutout over the No. 2 team in the country, the Texas Longhorns. In seven innings Gibson allowed just four hits, struck out one and did not give up a free base.
In championship play, Lobpries clocked time in the left field and as the designated player. She launched her first career grand slam off UT starting pitcher Cat Osterman. Lobpries tallied three hits and five RBI in eight at-bats for a .375 average.
The No. 16 Aggies await the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field of 64 Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
