Texas A&M sophomores Megan Gibson and Jamie Hinshaw were named to the 2006 NFCA Midwest All-Region second-team, the association announced this week.
Gibson, who was selected as a utility player, leads the Aggies with a .320 batting average. She?â„¢s hit 11 home runs and has driven in 34 runs. Gibson also holds the team lead in slugging percentage at .664. In 132.1 innings of work in the circle, Gibson, a member of the All-Big 12 second team and Big 12 Championship Tournament team is 16-4 with a 2.43 ERA.
Hinshaw, an All-Big 12 first team selection, earned her All-Region spot at third base. She?â„¢s started all 50 of A&M?â„¢s games and is second, behind Gibson, in batting average at .302. Hinshaw has hit six home runs, two triples and eight doubles to drive in 26 RBI this season.
The 16th-ranked Aggie softball team will begin NCAA Championship play on Friday as it faces the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at 1:30 p.m. in the Amherst Regional.
