Coach Fran Charities awarded a record total of $43,900 to 13 different charities in 2006. Since 2002, Coach Fran Charities has awarded close to $200,000 to various charities.
Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione (founder & chairman), his wife Kim (founder and vice chairman) as well as NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson and former NFL referee Red Cashion serve as the board of directors.
Founded in 2002, Coach Fran Charities, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, provides support for children with special needs, as well as other charitable causes. The primary emphasis of the foundation centers on after-school programs in reading and literacy, life skills and the arts.
Among the charities receiving donations this year include: Boys & Girls Club of Brazos Valley; Boys & Girls Country; Brazos Valley African-American Museum; Bryan ISD Education Foundation; Challenger Little League Baseball; College Station ISD Education Foundation; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Girdiron Heroes; Lincoln Recreational Center; Miracle Farm; Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc.; Scotty?â„¢s House; and Still Creek Boys & Girls Ranch.
