Texas A&M Director of Athletics Bill Byrne announced the tentative game times for the 2006 Aggie football home games.
"After discussions with our staff, we set our September home football start times at 6 p.m.," Byrne said. "With the high temperatures that are commonplace in September, we felt like the later kick time would be best for the players and our fans. Of course, our television partners have the final say in determining the start time of our football games. Per the Big 12 Conference contract, the television networks have the right to determine the start time of the games they choose to televise. So, all of our starting times are tentative until the networks decide which games they will broadcast."
The Aggies open the 2006 season at home on Sept. 2 against The Citadel and follow with another home game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 9. The first road game for Texas A&M will be Sept. 16 as the Aggies travel to San Antonio to face the United States Military Academy. That contest will be televised by ESPN2 with an air time of 8 p.m. central. The final non-conference game will be against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 23. Texas Tech comes to Kyle Field for the Aggies' Big 12 opener on Sept. 30.
"We have three remaining home games in the months of October and November and we will kick at 1 p.m. in the event those games are not televised," Byrne stated.
