A quartet of Texas A&M freshmen-to-be are leading Team USA at the Global Games international basketball tournament this week at Moody Coliseum.
Led by A&M signee Derrick Roland's 18 points, Team USA opened the tournament Monday night with a resounding 91-58 victory against Puerto Rico. The four A&M recruits combined to score 46 points with 15 rebounds, 11 assists and 8 steals in the victory.
Bryan Beasley added 12 points and a team-high 7 assists and three steals, while Bryan Davis scored 9 points with a team-best 9 rebounds. Donald Sloan scored 7 points in just 13 minutes before leaving the game in the second quarter with a sprained ankle.
The tournament continues through Saturday. Team USA plays Canada tonight at 6 p.m. Results and statistics are posted daily at globalgamesusa.com.
