Soccer Signees Compete in U.S. Youth Soccer Regionals

Soon to be Aggie goalkeeper Kristin Arnold and the Real Colorado National soccer club posted a 7-0 win over the RVSC Chaos from Oregon in the US Youth Soccer Region IV (Far West) Championships at the Simplot Sports Complex on Monday.

Arnold, who was the goalkeeper in yesterday?â„¢s match, has played for Real Colorado National for eight seasons (U11-U18) and has helped the team win two State Cup championships (2001, 2003) and twice advanced to the regional quarterfinals (2001, 2003).

Sixteen U18 teams from 13 different state soccer associations will compete over the next few days in the quest for a berth to the US Youth Soccer National Championship being held in Des Moines, Iowa, July 25-30.

The three remaining members of the 2006 signing class, Amber Gnatzig, Whitney Hooper and Nicole Ketchum will be traveling with the Challenge soccer club to Little Rock, Ark. to compete in the South Regionals for their shot at the National Championship from June 29- July 5.

The four ?'06 signees have recently been named the best recruiting class in the Big 12 by Soccer Buzz Magazine.

Sophomores Laura Grace Robinson and Micah Stephens will be competing in Little Rock for the U19 Dallas Sting Royal 87s. Robinson netted a goal and recorded an assist in the Dallas Sting Royal 87s' 3-1 win in the State Cup Championship.

Current Aggie soccer team members to have won US Youth Soccer National Championship titles include junior midfielders Paige Carmichael with the U17 Sereno Golden Eagles and Amy Berend with the U18 Dallas Texans.
