Texas A&M All-American Andrew Parr captured the Ontario Amateur Golf Championship on Friday for the second time in three years.

Parr set a tournament scoring record with a 14-under-par total of 72-64-67-67=270, winning the title by six strokes. He also won the crown in 2004.

Parr is playing in the upcoming Porter Cup in Lewiston, N.Y., one of the major amateur tournaments in the United States, then the Canadian Amateur and possibly the U.S. Amateur . A member of Team Canada, he is hoping to be selected by the Royal Canadian Golf Association for the World Amateur in the fall.

Parr, whose eligibility at A&M has expired, told the London Free Press that he plans to turn professional later this year. He earned All-America honors last season, setting A&M records for career rounds played and career rounds of par or better.

"You can't start professional golf until you are one of the best amateurs in the world and that's something I'm going for," Parr said. "The last couple of years I've achieved a lot in amateur golf and I'm thinking I'm ready for that transition."
