Texas A&M's Bronson Burgoon posted a convincing 5 and 4 victory against China's Wu Ashun on Saturday to lead Team USA to the title at the inaugural USA China Friendship Cup at Oak Valley Golf Club.
Team USA won the first eight matches of the day to extend its final winning margin to 25 1/2-10 1/2.
Burgoon will be a sophomore at A&M this fall. He led the team with a 73.03 scoring average last season, setting an A&M freshman record.
The bi-annual Friendship Cup will be played in Beijing in the summer of 2008 just prior to the Summer Olympics. The event will return to the United States in 2010.
