Second-year head coach Rob Childress?â„¢ Texas A&M baseball team will play 37 home games and will play 20 of its first 23 games at Olsen Field in 2007.
At least 29 of the 56 scheduled games will be played against 12 different teams who advanced to the 2006 NCAA Tournament, including two games against defending national champion Oregon State.
?We are excited about our schedule,? Childress said. ?We feel like the best way to win games is to play at Olsen Field in front of the best crowd in college baseball. The Big 12 Conference schedule is always a grind and the quality of our non-conference opponents should help us to prepare.?
The Aggies open the 2007 campaign at home against Texas Southern on February 6 and will play in the Minute Maid College Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston February 9-11. Opponents and times are still to be determined for the tournament.
Following the Minute Maid Classic, the Aggies embark on a 19-game home stand, which features the 2007 Domino?â„¢s Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic (March 2-5). This year?â„¢s field includes Oregon State, Saint Louis and New Mexico.
Another marquee weekend will be the three-game series against Southeastern Conference powerhouse Florida (March 9-11), who played in the national championship series in 2005.
The Aggies open Big 12 play the following weekend when they host Kansas in a three-game set. Of the Aggies 27 conference games, 15 will be on the road.
Game times for series at Olsen Field will be 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
