The Texas A&M football team donned full pads on Friday for the single workout.

?I thought our tempo was a little slower today,? Aggie Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione said. ?It wasn?™t a bad practice. I thought we had a good Aggie drill, good team drills and a pretty physical day.?

One player not participating in Friday?™s workout was senior defensive lineman Marques Thornton. Thornton, from Madison High School in Houston, was part of the August graduation ceremonies held at Reed Arena on Friday.

Coach Fran was asked about the idea of the temporary indoor facility over the artificial turf field.

?I?™ve said ever since I arrived we needed an indoor practice facility,? Coach Fran explained. ?Our original hope was the permanent indoor facility would be ready by now. When that did not happen, Karl Kapchinski (Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training) and the 12th Man Foundation researched this temporary structure and the 12th Man Foundation graciously funded it and it has been a big help this first week of drills.?

The Aggies will work twice on Saturday with full pads in the morning and shoulder pads and shorts in the evening.
