The Texas A&M football team came through the first day of full 2-a-day drills in fine fashion.

?I thought we had a good first day with two practices,? Aggie Head Coach Dennis Franchione said. ?We got some good work. After the morning practice in full pads, we came back this afternoon in shorts and helmets. I have been pleased with the good attitude and good work habits of this group. The leadership has been very good.?

Coach Fran announced sophomore defensive lineman Michael Bennett, from Taylor High School in Alief, had his knee scoped yesterday (Friday) and should not be out too long.

Coach Fran also mentioned that junior defensive back Johnathan Batson, who played at Cisco Junior College and at Converse Judson High School in San Antonio, went through his first workouts of the fall after a hamstring limited his work early in the week.

The Aggies will not work out on the field on Sunday but focus on weights and film study. A&M returns to the practice field on Monday with a scrimmage scheduled at Kyle Field. All practices are closed to the public.
