Texas A&M freshman goalkeeper, Kristin Arnold was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the net against then No. 3 North Carolina and Texas-San Antonio, the league office announced today.
?What a magical way to begin your college career, with a shutout over North Carolina and then earn your share of a shutout over UTSA,? said Aggie head coach G. Guerrieri. ?This is a big accomplishment for Kristin to be announced as the Defensive Player of the Week for a conference as good as the Big 12. I?â„¢m extremely proud of her and the defenders that play in front of her.?
In addition to being named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, Arnold was one of three keepers named to the TopDrawer Soccer Women's College Soccer Team of the Week. Joining Arnold are goalkeepers Allison Whitworth from Auburn and Lauren Robertson from Ohio State.
Arnold posted a shutout in her first collegiate start for the No. 4 Aggies against the Tar Heels. She made four saves in the double overtime match and played all 110 minutes of the game on Friday night. In her second start, Arnold put up zeros again as she kept the Roadrunners out of the net in the first-half she spent tending the goal.
