Texas A&M freshman goalkeeper Kristin Arnold and junior captain Paige Carmichael were named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week, editors of the magazine announced today.
?This is a nice individual honor for two of our most team oriented players,? said Aggie head coach G. Guerrieri. ?Paige, one of our great captains, is off to a wonderful start to her junior year, while Kristin has made quite a splash on the national scene in just her first weekend of college.?
Along with the Soccer Buzz accolade, Arnold was recently named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after her college debut that kept the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina out of the goal after making four saves.
Carmichael?â„¢s patrolling of the Aggie midfield helped to slow the UNC offense long enough for A&M to seal the double overtime victory. Carmichael also landed herself on the Soccer America Women?â„¢s Team of the Week.
The No. 4 Aggies will play host to Illinois and No. 5 Penn State this weekend as a part of the annual Big Ten-Big 12 Challenge. Kick-off on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
