Trey Todd fired rounds of 74-72=146 on Saturday to lead Texas A&M on the first day of the International Collegiate at the Torrance Course at St. Andrews Bay.

A&M posted a team score of 294-290=584 and trails leader North Carolina (279-289=568) by 16 strokes.

Also for A&M, Bobby Gates carded rounds of 74-73=147, Bronson Burgoon shot 72-75=147, Clay Hodge had scores of 74-73=147 and Martin Piller posted rounds of 78-72=150.

"We really hit a lot of good shots today and had a chance for a good day," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We just didn't convert on the par fives or the short par fours where we had some great scoring opportunities. The conditions were just what you would imagine in Scotland - cool, windy and damp. We got a great taste of golf in Britain today and I think we did a good job of handling ourselves and the conditions. Hopefully, tomorrow we can take advantage of our length off the tee and convert our drives into some birdies."
