Bronson Burgoon fired a five-under-par 67 on Sunday to lead Texas A&M to a fifth-place finish at The International Collegiate at the Torrance Course at St. Andrews Bay.

The Aggies closed with an eight-under 280, the third best round of the tournament, for a 54-hole total of even-par 864. North Carolina won the title with an 855, followed by Wake Forest (857), Coastal Carolina (858), Texas Tech (861), A&M, Stirling (865), Baylor (868), Georgia Southern (877), R&A Bursars (880) and St. Andrews (907).

Stirling's Gordan Yates captured individual honors by five strokes with an 13-under total of 67-68-68=203. Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson was second at 70-68-70=208.

Burgoon tied for 12th at 72-75-67=214. Also for A&M, Trey Todd tied for 14th (74-72-69=215), Martin Piller tied for 21st (78-72-68=218), Robert Gates tied for 32nd (74-73-76=223) and Clay Hodge tied for 38th (74-73-77=224)

"Our guys played their hearts out today and we were just one score away from really making a big move up the leaderboard," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "It rained all night last night so the greens softened up a little and we were able to be a little more aggressive with our approach shots. We also played the par fives really well - about 10-under - as a team today. Bronson, Martin and Trey played great. Bronson made eight birdies and Martin was bogey-free today. I have been really impressed with Trey, though. He played solid all week and this is the kind of golf we knew he could play and it is good to see him come out and start the season well."

The Aggies are back in action at the Inverness Intercollegiate Sept. 11-12 in Toledo, Ohio.
