"We're really looking forward to this weekend," commented A&M head coach G. Guerrieri. "We think this is once again a way for us to get a good evaluation of our team against two great programs. To be able do it away from home adds an additional challenge to the situation."
Last weekend was bittersweet for the Aggies. Fans saw A&M improve to 3-0-0 after shutting out then No. 13 Illinois, 3-0 on Friday. A&M came back Sunday to battle a tough Penn State side. Despite outshooting the Nittany Lions 32-15 on the day, the Aggies were unable to put away the game-winner ending the match in a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes of play.
The Bruins (3-1-0) enter Friday night's match with a pair of 1-0 victories over the weekend against San Diego State and Long Beach State. Freshman forward Kristina Larsen scored the game-winning goals in both matches.
UCLA leads the all-time series against A&M, 2-1.
Senior forward Madison Klovstad leads the Aggies in scoring this season with three goals coming in a span of just two games. Klovstad's first goal of the season came in the game's 69th minute against Illinois, she put the game away just two minutes later when she one-timed a 25-yard bullet into the far upper corner. The native of Orange, Calif., scored the equalizer in the match against Penn State in the game's 71st minute.
Senior forward Kat Krambeer leads the team in assists with five, four of which came in the 7-0 shutout of UTSA. With that performance Krambeer set a new Aggie record for most assists in a single game.
Larsen leads the Bruins in scoring with three goals. The native of Burbank, Calif., is a former member of the U-17 U.S. National Team.
Free live audio of the match will be available on AggieAthletics.com. The game will also be shown regionally by Fox Sports on a tape-delayed basis, check local listings for dates and times. The Aggies will conclude tournament play with a match against No. 4 Santa Clara on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
