Four Aggies were named to the all-tournament team at the Texas A&M Invitational after leading A&M to the championship title.
Setter Meghan Kainz, outside hitter Mary Batis and middle blockers Christi Hahn and Kelly Stanton represented A&M on the six-member all-tournament team. Setter Sarah Elmer and libero Ann Deelo from Loyola round out the team.
It marks the third consecutive all-tournament selection for both Batis and Hahn. Kainz and Stanton, both juniors, earned all-tournament honors for the first time in their careers.
Hahn hit .545 and averaged 3.5 kills per game in A&M?â„¢s three-game sweeps against both Loyola and McNeese State. Batis hit .309 while leading the Aggies with 3.83 kills and 4.75 points per game. Kainz averaged 10.20 assists per game as A&M averaged 16.0 kills per game and posted and impressive .351 hitting percentage. Stanton hit .393 with 2.5 kills per game and led the Aggies with 1.67 blocks per game.
A&M finished the tournament with a 2-0 record to capture its second championship of the year. Loyola defeated McNeese in three games Sunday morning to finish as runner-up with a 2-1 record. The Cowgirls went 0-3.
The tournament marked the end of A&M?â„¢s pre-conference schedule. The Aggies, 7-1 overall, begin Big 12 Conference play Wednesday against Oklahoma. First serve is at 6:30 p.m. at G. Rollie White Coliseum.
