The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Inverness Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at storied Inverness Golf Club, site of four U.S. Opens and two PGA Championships.
The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, with play beginning at 7 a.m. (CDT) each day. Live scoring is available online at www.golfstat.com.
In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes No. 3-ranked Georgia, No. 6 Florida, No. 13 UNLV, No. 18 Southern California, No. 23 Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Illinois, Kent State, Michigan State, Nebraska, New Mexico, TCU, Toledo and Virginia Tech.
Representing A&M will be juniors Robert Gates and Trey Todd, sophomores Bronson Burgoon and Matt Van Zandt, and freshman Austin Schauer.
A&M opened its season with a fifth-place finish at The International Collegiate earlier this month in Scotland.
"This is going to be a great experience for our team to play a course with the history of Inverness," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "It has hosted major championships and will be the site of the NCAA Championships in 2009. It is so demanding in every aspect of your game. We will need to be strong mentally, play extremely smart and be at our best this week."
