The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team carded rounds of 309-299=608 on Monday and is in sixth place after two rounds of the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Golf Club. The final round is Tuesday.

TCU leads the 15-team event with a 594 total, followed by No. 18-ranked Southern California (602), No. 23 Coastal Carolina (602), No. 3 Georgia (606), No. 6 Florida (606), A&M (608), No. 13 UNLV (611), Kent State (613), Toledo (613), Nebraska (616), Florida State (618), Illinois (625), Michigan State (625), Virginia Tech (626) and New Mexico (638).

TCU's John McLean fired a one-under total of 69-72=141 to take a six-stroke lead in the individual standings over Southern California's Jamie Lovemark (72-75=147).

A&M was led by sophomore Robert Gates, who is tied for 10th with a 76-74=150 total on the par-71 course. Also for A&M, freshman Austin Schauer is tied for 26th (79-75=154), sophomore Bronson Burgoon is tied for 37th (79-77=156), junior Trey Todd is tied for 37th (83-73=156) and sophomore Matt Van Zandt is tied for 45th (75-82=157).

"We are a little disappointed with our scores today," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We left a lot of shots out on the course. But at the same time, we are still in great position and can make up a lot of ground tomorrow."
