"It is great being back at the Aggie Soccer Stadium for another great weekend of games," commented A&M head coach G. Guerrieri. "We have learned a lot of lessons from playing great teams thus far in the young season and this weekend should be no different."
The Aggies are 3-2-1 on the season, having both losses come on the road last weekend while A&M was in Los Angeles for the UCLA Women's Cup. A&M suffered a hard fought 2-1 defeat to No. 4 UCLA on Friday night, despite outshooting the Bruins 9-7 in the second half. The Aggies returned to action on Sunday against No. 3 Santa Clara, but were unable to find the back of the net, dropping a tough 2-0 decision to the Broncos.
The Titans enter Friday's game after a mid-week match-up against San Diego State. Cal State Fullerton improved their record to 3-1-1 after shutting out the Aztecs 3-0 on Tuesday.
"Fullerton is a very talented, well coached side that advanced all the way to the NCAA 'Sweet Sixteen' last year," Guerrieri continued. "And Sam Houston State made it to the championship game of the Southland Conference, so we'll need to be sharp and focused for both matches."
Friday's match will serve as the first meeting between the Aggies and Titans. Sunday's game against Sam Houston will be the second time the two teams have faced-off, with A&M having won the match at home, 10-0, in 2004.
Senior defender Linda Pierson was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week (Sept. 4-8) after turning in solid performances in the Aggie backfield against Illinois and Penn State.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets at the gate or online at AggieAthletics.com. Parking for the match is available in lots designated 100g, 100j or 100k.
