Texas A&M sophomore Bronson Burgoon (The Woodlands, Texas) will compete in the PGA Tour?â„¢s Qualifying School starting on Tuesday at Jennings Mill Country Club. Burgoon will compete as an amateur to retain his college eligibility should he not earn his Tour card.

?Bronson is an outstanding player and obviously an important member of our team, but it is also his dream to play on the PGA Tour,? A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. ?Playing in Q-school as an amateur gives him the opportunity to see how he stacks up against the pros without compromising his amateur status and his eligibility to play for Texas A&M. Like all our players, we want to do everything we can to help him reach his goals.?

Burgoon will miss the Aggies?â„¢ next tournament, the Tucker Intercollegiate, which begins on Friday in Albuquerque.

?We?â„¢ll miss him this week but it is a good chance for us to see if we are really as deep as we think we are,? Higgins said.

Burgoon led the Aggies in scoring last year with a 73.07 average, an A&M freshman record, and earned PING All-Region honors. He qualified for the PGA Tour?â„¢s Shell Houston Open in the spring and missed the cut with rounds of 73-75=148.
